PixelatedRESULTS: Pollard Snags Win Number 2 in 2022 with SpeedFest Victory

CORDELE, Georgia (January 29, 2022) – Georgia native Bubba Pollard is the victor of SpeedFest 2022 after an intense race-long battle with runner up Chandler Smith. Pollard and Smith raced door to door over the course of multiple restarts with Smith, the 2021 Snowball Derby champion, being edged out on the race’s final restart with 10 laps to go in the 150 lap event. Today’s win marks number two for 2022 for Pollard, who also claimed the checkered flag in the Super Late Model portion of the Red Eye 50/50 at the beginning of the month in New Smyrna, Florida.

In the Pro Late Model 100 lapper, Michael Hinde snagged the win in his first outing at SpeedFest. Hinde would continue on in the Super Late Model feature to score a solid 12th place finish. With the cold temperatures, Hinde was concerned that his car would run tighter than usual, but was happy that the setup under his Stephen Nasse Racing prepared machine locked in about midway through the race.

Further back, Cody Coulghlin and Dustin Smith tangled early in the event. Under the yellow, the pair went to blows using their racecars which resulted in both cars being disqualified from the event. Afterward, Coughlin, who was one of the double-duty drivers, decided to load up and head for home, withdrawing from the Super Late Model race.

Timmy Moore won the Modifieds of Mayhem North/South Modified Shootout. With just over 20 cars starting the race, only about half finished as attrition through mechanical failures and contact took its toll on the event. This included a lengthy red flag period for fluid from one of the cars that covered the racing groove. Front runners Matt Dimit and Cody Stickler made contact late, taking both out of contention for the win and allowing Moore to set sail in the final laps.

Shawn Amor took the win in the CRA Street Stock feature, which was cut down from 75 to 50 laps to help facilitate the day’s schedule in light of the frigid temperatures. This race was after the first race of the day, the Legends Cars, which saw Cale Hall win in a 25 lap feature.
