Monster Trucks

PENSACOLA, Florida (February 4, 2023) — The All Star Monster Truck Tour invaded Five Flags Speedway on the first weekend in February for a Saturday and Sunday set of shows featuring their monster trucks and Quad Star Racing ATVs in front of a packed crowd.

The high flying, roaring machines performed a best trick contest, bracket racing, and closed out the show with the always popular freestyle event.

I was given access to capture the event front and center and these drivers did not disappoint.

Here are some of the highlights from the day.

On arrival at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola for the Saturday show, I was greeted by a very cheery staff. Everyone was excited to be there and genuinely enjoyed their jobs. Special thanks to James and Stacy at All Star Monster Truck Tour for granting me access to just about everywhere.
When the gates opened, one of the first things fans wanted to do was hitch a ride in “Identity Theft”, a truck setup to give spectators a first hand experience in these monstrous beasts. The line to get onboard stretched from the frontstretch into turn one of the speedway and was consistently full all day long.
A look at the line to catch a ride on “Identity Theft”.

Families waited for their turn to ride “Identity Theft” along the frontstretch wall. From there, they could watch others on their rides and also have a prime view of the Quad Star Racing ATV course.

The Quad Star Racing ATVs put on quite the entertaining show with a story arch of “Florida versus Alabama” throughout the day.

No surprise here… “Team Florida” was victorious on the day.

The main attraction of the day, of course, was the monster trucks and they put on a whale of a show. I was very surprised at how entertaining the small group of trucks actually were.

The Tour’s points leader coming into the weekend was Triton Robbins in “Krazy Train” who showed out in a big way winning the best trick and racing portions of the show.

Perhaps the most excited portion of a monster truck show is the freestyle competition, where drivers are judged on just how wild they can be with crazy moves, high jumps, and stunning antics. Joe Urie in “Ice Cream Man” took the top honors on this day with a high flying performance that took it’s toll on the truck, but put a ton of smiles on the faces in the crowd.

The world’s biggest ATV, “Holeshot”, was on display along with “Sinistar” and “Plane Krazy”… all wowing the fans in the stands.

All and all the All Star Monster Truck Tour show is an opportunity for good old family fun. Shooting this event was a blast; first time shooting monster trucks and the first time I’d seen them in person since 2006!
